Suitable Applications for Worm Gear Boxes
Our worm gear boxes are constructed with an air tight and dust proof aluminium gear
casing (sizes 025-090) and benefit from being able to be installed in open air.
No extra servicing is required for our worm gear boxes which are supplied with synthetic
oil and are sealed for life. Sizes 110-150 are lubricated with mineral oil and supplied
with breather, drain and filler plugs.

Mechanical Variators Gearboxes
Our high performance mechanical Variators Gearboxes have been designed and manufactured
to maximise their operational lifespan, whilst allowing them to function in cooler
and smoother conditions. Our mechanical speed Variators are available in a range
of motor power and speed specifications for use in all kinds of industry such as
conveyor systems, food process machinery, machine tooling and sugar mills.
Our Variators feature fully sealed enclosures, which allow for service free and
safe installations and are produced with light-weight aluminium casing up to size
UDL 0.75. Key features include output flanges which adhere to IEC standard sizes,
suitable for worm gearbox units as well as offering high precision adjustments,
steady performance, low noise and temperature increase.
Mechanical Variators control the speed variations needed when controlling industrial
machines with gear boxes and can control both increases and decreases in speed dependent
upon specific process requirements.

Varvel RD Range Gear Staged Gearboxes
The series RD helical gearboxes feature a one-piece cast housing complete with inner
support to accommodate 2 or 3 gear stages into the same casting. Manufactured to
the latest ISO engineering design specifications, the housing is checked by computer
aided structural analysis for deflection and stress distribution.
Significant strains caused by the effects of torque and external loads do not deflect
the monolithic ribwork of the housing, which significantly improves the integrity
of the sealed surfaces.
The series RD helical gearboxes are manufactured in B3 base mounted configuration.
They can be easily converted to B5 flange mounted by fitting of the appropriate
additional adaptor flange.
Single setup machining on state of the art CNC production lines, the most recent
calculation techniques and process control gives superior operational reliability,
maximum output torques, high overhung and thrust load capacity and long working
life times.
The series RD are made up in 7 sizes and output torques of 20Nm to 2500Nm are available.

RS/RT Range Varvel Worm Gearboxes
Single worm gear boxes
The worm gearboxes, RS and RT series, specifically designed for universal mounting,
are manufactured with die cast housing and covers in aluminium up to the size 85
and cast iron from the size 110.
Torques listed in the selection tables are output torque values for the specific
size and motor powers are always referred to at 1400rpm. Gearboxes are supplied
filled with synthetic long life oil.
Helical worm gear boxes
The gearboxes, RA and TA series, made up of an independent single stage helical
gearbox FXA fitted to a standard FRS or FTR gearbox, allow greater output torque
and higher efficiency than the FRS and FRT gearbox with equivalent ratios.
Two stage worm gear boxes
The gearboxes, RS/RS and RT/RT series, are made up of two gearboxes RS or RT and
offer a full selection of high reduction ratios to obtain the very low output speeds.

Varvel Bevel Helical Gearboxes
The gearboxes, series RN, RO, RV are manufactured with a common housing that allows
the same footprint for the three versions and are designed according to latest ISI
engineering specifications with the help of computer aided structural analysis for
displacement and stress field.
The monolithic framework does not deflect under the effect of torque and external
loads with effective results on sealing surfaces.
The gearboxes RN, RO, RV are manufactured of pressure die cast for the first 3 sizes
and of cast iron for the others. The shaft mount version, common to the three styles,
allows the flange mount B5 conversion by simply fitting one of the many output flange
options available.
The series RN, RO, RV are made in 6 sizes with output torques between 100 to 3400
Nm.
